The handful of people at the stART Creative Education Center for Orphans and Children with Special Needs are teachers, specialists, a psychologist and volunteers. We want to help children deprived of parental affection to adapt to the world around them and to overcome their inner complexes and fears. The main method of our work consists of two-hour drawing and modelling lessons. Art therapy techniques help in the delicate modification of the psychological state of a child without harsh intrusion into his/her inner life. Our children are orphaned and disabled children from the orphanages and boarding schools of Dmitrov Region.

We started our work in January 2005. In April we registered ourselves as a legal entity, entitled “The Independent, Non-profit Organisation stART Creative Education Center”. Up until December 2007 we visited the boarding schools to give lessons. But now we have our own HOME.

From the very beginning our main goal has been to help our children, the children of our district. This goal is relatively local and sometimes we want to do something bigger (that is why we cooperate and are friends with a variety of organisations trying to solve global problems). However, on the other hand we know all our children by name, we know their lives and we have not lost hope in making them happier.

We are not looking for especially gifted children. Nor are we teaching them drawing or training them to be painters. It is important for us that through creative process the children learn to communicate, to be friends and overcome their fears. And the most important thing is that the incomprehensible and aggressive world around becomes their best friend and receives them with open arms.

It is, of course, very gratifying that most of our children are wonderful drawers at the same time)))

We are always happy to welcome people who are ready to become friends, to help us and to take part in our programs.

We are happy to see people who want to become adoptive parents as well. After all, we have so many children who are ready to give them all their love, which they have kept to themselves after many years of living in public institutions.
